Almighty God, Heavenly Father, you have blessed us with the joy and care of children: give us calm strength and patient wisdom as we bring them up, that we may teach them to love whatever is just and true and good, following the example of our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen. (BCP, p. 829)
Children’s Ministry is vital to the life of Saint Peter’s. Raising children to love and serve the Lord is a high calling indeed, and parents don’t have to do it all on their own! As a Church, we believe that we should all work together to love, train up, and educate our children in what it means to be a follower of Christ. Our prayer is that as they grow in this nurturing environment, our children will come to rest securely in the love of Christ, and go out to represent Him in the world.
We offer loving childcare to children from birth to age 4 in our nursery. In addition to fun playtime with friends, your little one will actually begin to receive biblical teaching! In an age appropriate setting, Gospel Light’s Baby Beginnings teaches the youngest about God through activities, songs, and games.
The Early Years Program is designed with parents of babies and toddlers in mind! We know how challenging it can be to be involved in church life when nap schedules, teeth cutting, temper tantrums, and sleepless nights get in the way. Parenting children through these early, formative years can be some of the most challenging, and Saint Peter’s wants to support parents as they work through this stage of life with their little ones.
Sunday School is offered between our morning services, from 10:25-11:05 am, for children age 3 to 5th grade.
During the recessional hymn at the 9am service, children are invited to follow the crucifer to the back of the church and proceed down the back staircase directly to their Sunday School classrooms. Families who attend the 11:15 am service should have children in their classrooms by 10:25 am.
